Jenny Brown

I graduated in 1999 with a degree in Communication Studies and went on to work for BBC Television as an Assistant Producer. I worked on programmes including 'Little Angels', 'Child of Our Time' and 'My Life as a Child'. It was here that I discovered a talent and a love for working with parents and their children. Having interviewed thousands of primary school children up and down the country, and filmed with some amazing families, I decided it was time to take my career in a new direction. I studied Professional Photography Practice at the London College of Communication, setting up Picture My Baby soon after graduating.

As each child is different, each photo session is different. My experience of working with children in front of the camera has taught me that some will be incredibly shy and need a little more time to trust a photographer and others will be first in line, eager to pose. I adapt to work with each child on an individual basis, getting to know them in order bring out their true personality. Babies are equally unpredictable and I'm prepared for this - sometimes patience really is a virtue!

I genuinely love my job and it's such a privilege to be allowed into people's homes and to get to know them and their family. I often return to capture the same child through different stages of their life and as the family grows, so does the photo collection! Included in the pricing options are 'My First Year' photo books which are made up of images from 4 photo sessions, taken over the course of a year and can include a pregnancy shoot if you like. These make a wonderful memento a of a time which tends to fly by so quickly and, like a baby after months of waiting - when it arrives it's well worth the wait!
